A minor update to the "Join Troop 380" page: a new section, "Adult Volunteers" has been added that basically links to the Scouters page.
The Scouters page increased in scope to include a message from James Terry, Assistant Chief Scout Executive.
Important Changes to BSA Youth Protection Training Policies
Effective June 1, 2010:
* Youth Protection training is required for all registered volunteers.
* New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before they submit an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
* Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.
To ensure these policies are fully implemented, please take the following steps:
* If you have not taken Youth Protection training within the past two years, please log on to MyScouting and take the training. Be sure to have your member ID number. The number can be found on your Boy Scouts of America membership card.
* If you do not know your member ID number, contact your unit leader or committee chairman. Your council can also assist.
* A person does not have to be a registered volunteer or have an ID number to take Youth Protection training. To take the training, log in to MyScouting and create an account. From the MyScouting portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training. Upon completion, print a certificate and submit it with an application or submit to the unit leader for processing at the local council.
* If you have taken Youth Protection training online but did not input your member ID number, please log on to MyScouting and input your member ID in the My Profile section so the training will be linked to your records.
* If you have taken Youth Protection training within the past two years but did not take the course online, log on to MyScouting to ensure your records are up-to-date, or contact your council for verification that your Youth Protection training records are accurate.
* Finally, please share these important changes with other Scouters.
To find out more about the Youth Protection policies of the Boy Scouts of America and how to help Scouting keep your family safe, see the Parent's Guide in any of the Cub Scouting or Boy Scouting handbooks, or go to http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx.
Congratulations to Aaron Rush for joining the nest of Troop 380 Eagle Scouts!

The Roster is also a list of active scouts in the troop, but it is sorted by patrol. Information for each boy includes phone number, age, rank and date of last rank, and leadership position (if applicable). If you notice any errors, or need to update any of the information therein, please email Floyd Brown, the membership ASM.
For privacy reasons, the Troop 380 Phone List has been protected by a user name and password. Ask Dave or any Assistant Scoutmaster for that information.
Thanks, Floyd!
I wanted to change "Phone List" to "Phone List & Roster," but I was running out of space. Instead of change font size I just reduced the length of the updated tab's width as well as the width-hog on the left...
The nifty search feature (right hand side of the t380.org home page) is pretty slick, but since the structure of pages has changed, the results will point to the old pages, which no longer exist.
It will take some time for Google (and other search engines) to re-crawl our site...but when they do, the search results will be correct again.
Please see the Permission Slips & Event Info page on t380.org to download the River Cats Game flyer/order form:
t380.org > Downloads > Permission Slips & Event Info
Note: the Permission Slips & Event Info page is part of what used to be the old "Forms" page.
Thanks, Maryann!
t380.org > Downloads > Permission Slips
is now
t380.org > Downloads > Permission Slips & Event Info
The URL remains the same: t380.org/permissionslips, but I changed the name of the tab to better reflect the content, since I'm adding the Rivercats info...which isn't a permission slip...
Thanks, Maryann!
The "Join" page now has a shiny green button that links directly to emailing Floyd Brown, the membership ASM.
Thanks, Floyd!
The home page has an ad-free search feature now! Pretty cool, huh?
Do you think the search should be available from every page, or do you like it how it is (just on the home page, t380.org)? Email your opinions to webmaster@t380.org or comment directly to this blog post (preferred in this case).

Did you notice the yellow box in the upper-right of every page? Now our guests have more information (and a link to email Floyd Brown) about Scouting and Troop 380 specifically.
If you have any additional information that should go on this page, please email me: webmaster@t380.org
As more and more electronic documents go up on the site, they don't all fall under the category of "Forms."
The old Forms page has been renamed to "Downloads" and now has several sub-pages:
If any scout or scouter out there has a document or file of any kind that should be on t380.org, please email me: webmaster@t380.org
The "Leadership" and "Patrols" pages were never really updated, nor did it look like they ever would be on a useful enough basis. Besides, who needs to look on the web who is in what patrol? You can pretty much determine that at every meeting based on were people sit, right?
If anyone desperately wants these pages to appear back on the site, you're also volunteering to update them for the forseeable future...but I'm willing to negotiate! :P
Many enhancements were made to the t380.org site, though most of them should be transparent. Several blog posts will follow this one to highlight the changes.
IMPORTANT: if you have bookmarked any page on the site except the home page (t380.org) or a particular photo album, your bookmarks will now be broken. That's because the file structure (how the pages and content are organized) has been overhauled to make more sense.
Examples:
I don't anticipate changes like this in the future, mainly because things are now the way they should have been the entire time (if I wasn't so lazy in the beginning).
